General Information

The official census day was April 15, 1910 and this census counted 92,228,496 people. There were a total of 46 states in this census with Oklahoma and Utah being the newest additions.

The 1910 census asked questions about each person in the following areas:

  • Name
  • Age
  • Relationship to head-of-household
  • Name of street and number of house
  • Sex
  • Color (race)
  • Birthplace
  • Occupation
  • Marital status and number of years in a marriage
  • Number of children born to a mother
  • Number of children still living at the time of the census
  • Number of years in the U.S.
  • Birthplace of father and mother
  • Whether parents were of foreign birth
  • Whether able to read or write, speak English or attended school within the previous year
